Carrinet in Dagens Industri Weekend – A net bag that saves the environment

Over one billion small plastic bags are used every year in Sweden alone. In a feature in Dagens Industri Weekend, Carrinet and founder Mia Ekblad are highlighted as part of the solution to this challenge. The article, titled “A net bag that saves the environment,” tells the story of how a simple idea developed into a sustainable alternative now available in stores across the country.

The idea for Carrinet was born in connection with the EU’s Plastic Bag Directive in 2017, which encouraged retailers to inform customers about the environmental impact of plastic. When the opportunity arose, Mia Ekblad saw the chance to create something tangible – a reusable net bag that could replace single-use plastic in the fruit and vegetable section.

Since its launch, Carrinet has established collaborations with several of the major players in the grocery retail sector. The Veggio bag has quickly become a familiar sight for consumers who want to shop more sustainably and make conscious choices in their daily lives.

At Carrinet, we are still driven by the same core idea as in the beginning – that small changes can make a big difference for the environment. Through innovative, functional products, we aim to inspire more people to choose sustainable alternatives, every day.
